Melin Tregwynt’s famous woolen throws are woven at the white-washed woolen mill nestled in a remote wooded valley on the Pembrokeshire coast. There has been a mill there since the 17th century, when local farmers would bring their fleeces to be spun into yarn and woven into sturdy Welsh wool blankets.
This classic ‘St David’s Cross’ design in traditional slate colourways, is a historic pattern inspired by early 18th century Shaker weaves. Melin Tregwynt’s version was developed at the mill in the 1980s by Howard Griffiths, part of the second generation of the family-owned company, as a modification of their ‘Vintage Star’ design.
